Shaping our future with the transformative power of mathematics.
Mathematics: the core principle that drives the present and shapes the future. Today, we can purchase goods and services with just a few clicks and turn to ChatGPT, an AI program, for answers to our questions. None of this would have been possible without mathematics.
Despite its close connection to daily life, the reality is that many people feel a strong aversion to math, even coining terms like 'math-phobia.' Terence Tao asserts, "Math is not a secret weapon for the chosen few, nor is it a trick with numbers and symbols." He argues that while not everyone needs to be a math expert, in the modern world, mathematics is a fundamental skill that every educated person should have.
In his lecture, Terence Tao will provide detailed examples of how humanity has utilized mathematics to solve problems and change history, and what the future might hold for this field. As a master of modern mathematics, he will explore the mathematical principles behind everyday technologies, from MRIs to artificial intelligence to online commerce, demonstrating math's relevance for everyone.
