The World in a Snapshot

How to capture the world, truth and life in one picture.

Capturing the world through photography.

Sometimes, a picture just shouts out to you. Afghan Girl, which appeared on the cover of National Geographic in 1985, showed the world the sufferings of the refugees from the Afghan War. How did this picture, which still resonates with people decades after it was taken, come to be?
Steve McCurry, a member of Magnum Photos, a prestigious international cooperative of photojournalists, has been capturing in photographs the tragedies in the world’s conflict and disaster sites for the last 40 years. In this lecture, he reveals what drove him to risk his life to go to these danger zones and the ups and downs of his journey in becoming the world-renowned photographer he is today, along with how to capture a moment so it will last forever.
Steve McCurry, who has spent his life watching the world through a viewfinder, tells the story beyond that lens. The shocking and moving tale of what he went through until a masterpiece could be born will make you think about the meaning of life and its essence.
