Psychology

Richard Nisbett

How We Think the Way We Think

According to Richard Nisbett, our thoughts are influenced by our environment, social structure, philosophical ideas, educational system, and a variety of other factors.

The thoughts you didn’t know you were thinking.

In lectures one and two, various scientific social experiments show us how environmental differences affect Eastern and Western ways of thinking. It's not just the environment that affects our thinking. Our subconscious also affects our thought processes. People are influenced more by their subconscious than consciousness when making decisions.

In lectures three and four, we encounter social psychology studies on the subconscious that we probably have never heard of.

In lecture five, Intelligence: Genetics or Environment, Nisbett corrects our misunderstandings of the essence of intelligence. He also introduces crucial factors affecting human intelligence potential and reveals to us the ideal environment that gives us the greatest possibility of improving our intelligence.
